I'm hoping this is gonna be a good era, with a good album and good singles coming from it. Cheryl has always been my favourite in Girls Aloud and I was excited about her solo career. And because she loved dancing so much, I expected something uptempo and dancy like Beyonce's debut Crazy In Love. However, I was left dissapointed with Cheryl's debut. Although I liked Fight For This Love, it wasn't really a dance/club hit and the album and singles that followed were dissapointing. Then the second album was released and yet again, nothing about the Messy Little Raindrops era excited me. Promise This, like Fight For This Love, was a good song, but not Cheryl at her best.

Cheryl is hotstuff and she can dance like nobody can, so with a killer dance track she can give Beyonce a run for her money, maybe not all of her money, but she can definately put on a good show ...

Cheryl Waves Goodbye To Being Mrs Cole

Cheryl Cole is playing with the big girls now; just like Madonna, Cher, Beyonce and Rihanna, the wannabe music icon will, from now on, be known only by her first name.

So how do you guys feel about 'Cheryl'?

The singer is, according to The Sun, dropping the name Cole with regards to her musical career, but NOT removing the name legally.

Does this mean she's moving on from serial cheat Ashley Cole or not?

A source told The Sun that Cheryl is desperate to add some spice to her new career:

"She’s not removing Cole legally, it’s just a career statement... She’s in a really good place at the moment and wants to take life by the balls... She can’t wait to start performing live again and her new stage name has given her comeback an extra bit of spice."

Cheryl has held onto her marital surname long after separating from Chelsea and England star Ashley last year - possibly because Tweedy doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

The former Mrs Cole is ready to attack the charts, having just filmed a video in Los Angeles for 'Call My Name'. Add that to the Girls Aloud comeback tour and you have a recipe for Cheryl sticking to the charts for a long old time.

Do you think the name change will help Cheryl's career take flight?

I think she'd be better sticking with Cole

Quite clever really, dropping the surname and the single's called 'Call My Name'.

Even big worldwide artists like Kylie, Janet, Britney and Celine failed in dropping their last names. People still call them and tag their songs with the full thing. It didn't work for Emma and Geri either (when actually both of them became huge around the globe with the SGs using just their first names).

The article is a bit stupid anyway, as Madonna, Cher, Rihanna and Beyoncé have always been know for just that names.

Anyway, dropping the 'Cole' commercially but not legally is stupid imo. The logical thing would be to drop it from your legal name (because you're not married anymore to 'Cole') and keeping it as your stage name because that's how people know you and what appears in your first 2 albums.

Having said that, if she really decided to use just Cheryl, I agree that the single being called Call My Name is quite clever. But I think only radio/tv presenters will call her Cheryl. She will be Cheryl Cole among her fans and in most of the digital files all over the world. I wouldn't even be surprised if she kept the 'Cole' on the songs tags, otherwise if you search on iTunes to buy her music, it will appear as 2 different artists.

The single is premiered this friday, as already posted, so I think June 10 is quite late tbh. Not saying she should go with the on air / on sale option, but releasing a single nearly 2 months after its premiere isn't very clever for such a 'big' act in the UK.

I'm curious to see how this single will do on its first week now that she doesn't have an X Factor performance to promote it.

I'm so excited, for both the single and album!
Luckily, I'm off work on Friday, so I can hear this first play.

I'm not used to albums coming out 1 week after the 1st single since all American big acts started to release a second single right before the album.

Maybe she is performing the song on 'The Voice' that week. Or would that be too far-fetched?

The Voice UK finishes on May 26th, so if she performs on there it's going to be in advance of the song being out. Seems like a strange choice!

I really like the album name. Does seem like a very long ways away for the single release though. Still I'm excited for this!

hmmmmm I wonder why its premiering so soon if its being released that late. DO you think it means the song is a 'grower'?
